Welcome to the Web site for 'Drake Infant & Nursery School'

WELCOME

From the Head Teacher

Drake Infant and Nursery School is situated on Fairfields, off the Croxton Road in Thetford. The school is named after Sir Francis Drake. It opened in1978 and was originally built to accommodate 200 children from the ages of 5-8. In 2000 it became an Infant school and Nursery and is capable of having 180 children aged 4-7 on roll and 52 part time nursery children.

Drake is an attractively built school with classrooms sited around an open courtyard and a purpose built nursery. Our classrooms are bright and inviting and provide a secure environment for your child to learn. We are fortunate to have extensive grounds that include play areas, large grass playing fields, wild life areas, mature trees and a variety of outside play equipment.

The school also runs an on site day care facility called Little Pirates at Drake. At present this caters for children from rising three to eleven . It has clubs for breakfast, after school and school holidays. Little Pirates also provide quality day care for 3-5 year olds during school time.

We were very pleased that in our most recent OFSTED inspection in September 06 inspectors said “This is a good school that is on its way to becoming outstanding” We were praised for the care and support the children are given and the progress that children make is at least good or better. Ofsted also noted how much children enjoy coming to school and how highly the parents regard the school.

The school opens at 8.50am and all children should be in their class and ready for the register at 8.55am .

The staff and I take every care to ensure that your child feels valued and happy at our school and will reach their potential. We hope you and your child will enjoy being part of Drake.
